Dennis Moody Studio was designed and built in 2001. It is located just north of downtown near the Mt. Washington area of Los Angeles. We are using a ProTools 2021.3.1 HDX digital recording system with an AVID HD16 i/o and a Digi 192K converter for 24 in and out. The system is powered by a MacMini with an Intel i7 processor MacMini all on Thunderbolt. The tracking room is 14' by 22'. It is a fantastic sounding drum room! We have a nice microphone selection: AKG 414B Xll(2), AKG C451B/ST (3), AKG 460B (2), AKG D112 (1), EV RE10 vintage (2), MXL 2003 (2), MXL 603S condensor mics (2), Neumann KM184 (1), Shure KSM 32 (4), Shure KSM 141 (3), Shure Beta 98 (2), Shure Beta 52 (1), Shure SM 98 (4), Shure SM81 (2), Shure SM57 (4), Shure SM58 (2), Shure VP88 stereo (1), Sennheiser 421 (2), Sennheiser MD441 (2), Studio Projects CS5 (1), Studio Projects T3 (1), Studio Projects C4's (2), Warm Audio WA87 (2), And a Yamaha "Sub kick" rounds out our selection. The studio has a 1937 Chickering 9' concert grand piano that has recently been rebuilt by Pacific Piano. The control room is 14' by 15'. Using a Mackie 24-8 input console, we also have 4 GML 8300 mic pre's, 4 SP "Tutti" Sunset Sound API 512 style mic pre's, 2 Warm Audio WA76 limiters, and 2 Warm Audio EQP-WA Pultec style EQ's. 2 Avalon M5 mic pre's, an Avalon AD2055 stereo EQ, and an Avalon AD2044 stereo compressor. We have 2 DBX 160's and 4 Behringer MDX 2200 compressors. The monitoring system is JBL 6332's powered by a Crown XLS 1502 amp, and the low end is handled by a pair of JBL LSR6312SP subs. The room is tuned with a Behringer 31 band graphic EQ. The headphone monitoring system is a 16X12 Crest Audio XRM console enabling 6 separate stereo headphone mixes. We use Vic Firth "isolation headphones" to allow for complete control on each cue mix and also have a few pairs of AKG 240 open phones. The control room is wired with Monster Cable. There is also an 11' by 7' isolation booth, with sliding doors for complete visual contact, and a 7' by 3 1/2' vocal booth or amp "closet", also with a window for visual contact. Plenty of parking, wireless high speed internet, and a comfortable, fully equipped lounge.
