What About Dick? "What About Dick?"

What About Dick? played to SOLD OUT crowds at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre in LA, Nov 10th and 11th, 2007! Only once in a lifetime you see a cast like this -- Billy Connolly, Tim Curry, Eric Idle, Eddie Izzard, Jane Leeves, Emily Mortimer, Jim Piddock, and Tracy Ullman -- well twice actually in this case since there were only two performances. But if you've missed both occasions then you can tell your grandchildren you weren't there either of the days they did that thing you missed. The music was by Idle's Spamalot partner John Du Prez and the sound effects artist was Tony Palermo. In this new play from Grammy, Tony and Drama Desk Award winning author Eric Idle, a lowbrow comedy about highbrow people, eight actors are gathered together to perform a classic radio drama What About Dick? premiered at the original Lux Radio Theater in 1948 (now the Ricardo Montalban.)

Porgy and Bess "Porgy and Bess"

I mixed most of the major European performances of "Porgy and Bess" from August, 1995 to November, 2000. The production is by New York Harlem Theater Productions under the direction of William Barkymer. The sound companies used are Concept Audio from Berlin and Padco Sound from Cologne. I used a Yamaha PM 3000, 36 channel mixer for most of these shows. The tours have taken place in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Italy and Austria. I mix all the shows requiring amplification for the singers, usually halls with a capacity of 1,000 people or more. The orchestra is 65 pieces, the choir was 60 persons. There were also 9 leads. There have been some performances with up to 10,000 people in attendance. In this case, I used an extended sound system, with more than 80 channels. In all, I have mixed over 220 shows.

The Phantom "Phantom of the Opera"

I started working for "The Phantom", in December of 1997. This German language version is a production by Karl-Heinz Stracke that tours mostly in Germany, with some shows in Austria and Switzerland. The sound company is Westfalen Sound from Emstetten. I used a DDA 48 channel mixer for this show. The orchestra was 24 pieces, the choir was 20 persons There were also 12 leads. This tour consisted of 31 "one-nighters" per month. The average house size was 1,000 persons. In six months, I mixed over 180 shows.

Shakespeare "Shakespeare and Rock & Roll"

I started working for "Shakespeare and Rock & Roll" shortly after it's premiere in Berlin in 1993. This was a production from Fritz and Bernard Kurz, who started the musical scene in Germany with the first production of "Cats" in 1985. For this show, we used a Midas 56 input automated console and a Yamaha 36 input PM 3000 as a band submixer. This show was fixed at the Freievolksbuhne in Berlin for over four years. After this time, it was moved to Bremen where it had a "lukewarm" 5 month run. The houses were both around 1,200 capacity. The show consisted of a seven piece band along with four background singers and 8 leads. Between Berlin and Bremen, I mixed over 600 shows.

Musical Nights "Side by Side Musical Nights"

I have been mixing shows for this production for over four years. It is a production from Kern Musical Management, in Munster. This show is basically a "musical review", consisting of an eight piece band and six to eight singers. The sound companies on these tours varied but mostly Delta Sound from Antwerp, Belgium was used. I mostly was able to mix this production with a 36 channel Yamaha mixer. The show toured all over Germany. In all, I mixed over 100 shows.
